1. Looking for errors - empty registry entries

There is a built-in basic registry viewer within any version of windows from Microsoft. It is simply well known as "Regedit". The easiest way to access this regedit is:

Start -> Run -> Type "Regedit" and hit Enter

You should now see new regedit window opened on your screen. Registry entries are very sensitive. You should be extremely careful and sure that you are deleting the right entries or it will cause problems to your machine.

2. Perform a backup for your registry

There is a little handy tool comes with any version of Windows. It is called the "windows system restore". The way it works is that it will rollback your windows back to any saved date and time you are choosing. It is recommended to manually place a system restore point right before you edit any registry entries. To do this you may simply:

Start -> Help/Support -> Click on "Create new restore point" button.

3. Repair, correct, and delete parts of your Windows Registry

You would need to reboot your computer after you have made all the corrections to see the effects. It will be the first big test to see if everything is good with your computer. It is not uncommon to see some new text display when you boot up for the first time as windows goes through the registry. You should read it and see if it can be determined that something was deleted that should not have been.

If you run into any major problems, you should utilize your system restore backup to bring your computer back to where it was prior to making the changes in your registry.

Method (B): Use registry cleaners to do the task automatically

If you are not familiar with how to edit your registry, you should considering using third party software to manage this task for you.
