The M-Audio FireWire 410 is the overall best FireWire audio interface under $300. For the size and price, it simply can't be beat in terms of quality and features. The sound quality is great, with the mic preamps producing an awesome and clear signal, and the unit itself is solidly-constructed and features a lot of controls and displays while still having an organized and easy-to-use design. Having two dedicated headphone jacks with separate volume controls is very convenient for two-person headphone monitoring (or for A/B comparisons).
